Here is a news coming from Kuvempu University Karnataka, The university has restricted it's admission for distance education courses within the state. The decision is an outcome of UGC's directions, which asked all universities offering distance education courses to restrict them to the territorial jurisdiction of their states. University Grant Commission has taken this decision to improve the quality of education in universities & to lower the scams.
After this decision no new admissions will be provided in any course to students outside the Karnataka state. Kuvempu University Directorate of Distance Education will follow this restriction from the current admission session.
Kuvempu University was founded in the year 1987 & offers a variety of undergraduate & postgraduate courses including MBA, MSc, MA, MCom,BA,BCom. The university has a wide range of study center within & outside the state including in New Delhi.

Earlier University Grant Commission (UGC) had directed all central, state, private or deemed by sending them a letter that from now universities will not be able to offer its courses through franchising arrangement with private coaching institutions even for the purpose of conducting courses through distance mode.
After this move we can say that universities has started following the direction of UGC and near future we will see more universities to restrict there operations outside their state. Of course this move will be for the betterment of the student but may disappoint some students who wish to take admission in a university outside their state through distance learning mode.
