The university was started with 100 students & by 2010-11 these numbers were increased to close to 17000 enrollments which are a great increase. In coming years university is expecting to cross 25000 students mark.

Distance Education Courses Offered by Jammu University
As we’ve written above that the university offers many courses starts from the conventional B.A to Diploma in business administration. Below is the list of courses that university offer.

The duration of B.A & B.Com courses is 3 years, PostGraduate courses such as M.A, M.Ed & M.Com are 2 years in duration, Rest of the courses i.e B.Ed & PGDBM are 1-year courses.
The university provides self-learning material to all the students by hand or through the post. The Directorate has adequate infrastructure in the form of halls and rooms for Personal Contact Programmes and Counseling sessions. Jammu University Distance Education also has a collection of more than 35000 books, a computer lab & wi-fi facility for students.

Jammu University Distance Education Admission Procedure
A student seeking admission into distance education courses offered by Jammu University may contact any of the study centers that we’ve mentioned above or may directly contact the main campus. The eligibility criteria for each of the course is mentioned on university official website i.e http://www.distanceeducationju.in/ .
At the time of admission, students may have to submit the following documents along with the application form.
- Three attested photocopies of Bachelor’s Degree and Marks Certificates of Part-I, II and III.
- Three attested photocopies of the Matriculation Diploma or equivalent examination.
- Three attested photocopies of the Degree/Certificate of the last examination passed / Provisional Certificate ( in original).
- Migration Certificate ( in original) for candidates having passed the last examination from a University other than the University of Jammu.
- A Crossed Demand Draft of requisite fee drawn in favor of the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, the University of Jammu, payable at Jammu.
- Character certificate issued by a Gazetted officer.
- Gap affidavit if required.
