About Madras University Distance Education
In the year 1981 to help people who can't attend regular classes, the University of Madras set up the Institute of Distance Education.
Currently, the Institute is offering a total of 78 courses: 22 Undergraduate Courses, 14 Postgraduate Courses, 9 Postgraduate Science Courses, 5 Professional Courses, 16 Diploma Courses, and 12 Certificate Courses. Student seeking admission into these courses can take admission throughout the year. Currently, IDE is serving distance education through more the 60 National & International study centers. More than 1.6 lakh students have been enrolled in these courses to date.
